Joe Weil
Joe Weil was the editor of journals like Black Swan Review and anti-lawn. With Edie Eustace and Deborah LaVeglia, he was a long time curator of the PoetsWednesday reading series at Barron Arts Center in Woodbridge. Born in Elizabeth, his many jobs before becoming a professor at SUNY-Binghamton included working as a tool and die maker. His books include The Plumber’s Apprentice, Painting the Christmas Trees, What Remains, and The Pursuit of Happiness.
Poems like “Elegy for Sue Rapeezi” and “Ode to Elizabeth”, included in the above collections, first appeared in the magazines in this collection. He has also performed his work at the Dodge Poetry Festival and been featured in the PBS program Fooling With Words With Bill Moyers. He has also been featured in a segment of NJN’s State of the Arts.
